My latest harrowing adventure

I don't feel like retyping it, so here's the story as narrated to Miss Anna-pants over skype
[02:00:50] Erin Montparnasse: I left at 9:30 in order to meet friends at 10
[02:01:11] Erin Montparnasse: I take the train from the suburbs into St-Lazare where I was going to take métro line 14 and meet them at Châtelet
[02:01:24] Erin Montparnasse: so I get down to my train station, and the train is delayed for some reason
[02:01:28] Erin Montparnasse: so I wait ten minutes... time: 9:46
[02:01:50] Erin Montparnasse: I had to take the one that stops at every station between here and the city
[02:01:56] Erin Montparnasse: it took like fifteen extra minutes
[02:02:11] Erin Montparnasse: I make it to St-Lazare, go get on the 14... AND IT BREAKS DOWN (or something)
[02:02:30] Erin Montparnasse: something bad happened a ways down the track (sometimes it's a suicide...) and the train only went one stop
[02:02:33] Erin Montparnasse: I needed to go FOUR
[02:02:41] Erin Montparnasse: so I got off at that stop and got on the only other line
[02:02:50] Erin Montparnasse: and then I took that line to another stop and switched trains again
[02:02:56] Erin Montparnasse: and finally I made it to Châtelet
[02:03:05] Erin Montparnasse: but my friends had waited so long they'd gone on to Hotel de Ville
[02:03:12] Erin Montparnasse: so I had to go find them in this enormous crowd... time: 10:29
[02:03:26] Erin Montparnasse: I finally did and we decided to meet up with our British friend and his group
[02:03:41] Erin Montparnasse: so it took us forever to find each other in this massive crowd at the Pompidou Centre
[02:04:00] Erin Montparnasse: we stand around and all the people are drinking and I'm just chillin, chattin with the drunks
[02:04:08] Erin Montparnasse: and they decide to go into the museum
[02:04:11] Erin Montparnasse: so I follow them in
[02:04:29] Erin Montparnasse: and for some reason there's a concert of weird, like, Jewish-y Russian music playing
[02:04:32] Erin Montparnasse: and we got sucked into a mosh pit
[02:04:35] Erin Montparnasse: and separated
[02:04:41] Erin Montparnasse: French people were jumping all over me
[02:04:59] Erin Montparnasse: I finally found my British friend Matt and his British brother John, and they were about to leave so I decided to leave too... time: 12:10
[02:05:15] Erin Montparnasse: we go to Châtelet and they take the RER back to their suburb
[02:05:20] Erin Montparnasse: well, I go back to line 14
[02:05:27] Erin Montparnasse: it's been LOTS OF HOURS so I assume they're all better
[02:05:29] Erin Montparnasse: THEY AREN'T
[02:05:34] Erin Montparnasse: the train JUST SITS THERE
[02:05:39] Erin Montparnasse: it won't leave the stop
[02:05:43] Erin Montparnasse: the doors won't even close
[02:05:50] Erin Montparnasse: I sat there until 12:23 before I gave up
[02:05:56] Erin Montparnasse: I went over to the next line, the 1
[02:06:02] Erin Montparnasse: and it took about ten minutes to show up
[02:06:23] Erin Montparnasse: by the time is did, everyone crammed themselves in so tight we looked like a youtube video of Japanese business men
[02:06:32] Erin Montparnasse: when my phone buzzed I couldn't even reach my pocket to get it out
[02:06:37] Erin Montparnasse: that's how crowded we were
[02:06:56] Erin Montparnasse: I took it to another stop, then switched to line 13 which goes to St-Lazare
[02:07:01] Erin Montparnasse: it's about 1am at that point
[02:07:08] Erin Montparnasse: I left the Pompidou AN HOUR AGO
[02:07:26] Erin Montparnasse: the last train leaves St-Lazare at 1:10, so I run up the stairs
[02:07:32] Erin Montparnasse: there's only one train left at the station
[02:07:37] Erin Montparnasse: AND IT'S NOT GOING TO MY TRAIN STATION
[02:07:48] Erin Montparnasse: it's going to a station that a friend of mine uses
[02:08:14] Erin Montparnasse: I decided to take it anyway, because Monday I went home with that friend and then walked back to my house, so I thought maybe I could remember the way
[02:08:49] Erin Montparnasse: I got into the station at 1:15 and just started meandering in what I thought was the right way
[02:09:04] Erin Montparnasse: luckily, it turned out that is WAS right, so that part of the evening actually worked out okay
[02:09:20] Erin Montparnasse: except when this car drove by really slowly and a hoodlum started trying to get my attention from the backseat
[02:09:32] Erin Montparnasse: I had headphones in, even though my music was really quiet, so I just pretended I couldn't hear him
[02:09:38] Erin Montparnasse: it was scary because all the streets were deserted
[02:10:05] Erin Montparnasse: I made it home around 1:35
[02:10:10] Erin Montparnasse: AND THEN I COULDN'T GET THE DOOR UNLOCKED
[02:10:14] Erin Montparnasse: I WAS SO THIRSTY
[02:10:15] Erin Montparnasse: AND TIRED
[02:10:17] Erin Montparnasse: AND STRESSED
[02:10:26] Erin Montparnasse: AND NO MATTER HOW HARD I TURNED THE KEY OR HOW MUCH I PULLED AND PUSHED
[02:10:27] Erin Montparnasse: NOTHING
[02:10:31] Erin Montparnasse: IT WOULDN'T BUDGE
[02:10:38] Erin Montparnasse: so I sat down on the steps for a while
[02:10:40] Erin Montparnasse: texted Matt
[02:10:43] Erin Montparnasse: tried again
[02:10:46] Erin Montparnasse: tried again
[02:10:47] Erin Montparnasse: nothing
[02:10:53] Erin Montparnasse: I wandered around in the front yard
[02:10:58] Erin Montparnasse: then went back and tried the door again
[02:11:23] Erin Montparnasse: Matt texted back and was like "You're just going to have to bite the bullet and ring the family" which was British enough that it comforted me
[02:11:32] Erin Montparnasse: so I decided to desperately try the lock again
[02:11:46] Erin Montparnasse: and this time I yanked and pushed and even put all my weight against the door
[02:11:50] Erin Montparnasse: AND THE LOCK CLICKED
[02:11:52] Erin Montparnasse: AND I GOT IN
[02:11:54] Erin Montparnasse: SAVVVVVVED
[02:12:10] Erin Montparnasse: That was about 1:50
[02:12:14] Erin Montparnasse: AND THAT WAS MY NIGHT
Honestly, every time I've tried to go "out on the town" it has ended in disaster. I think I should just give in to fate and lay around watching bad Disney sequels and knitting all the time.
[02:00:50] Erin Montparnasse: I left at 9:30 in order to meet friends at 10
