whoaaaaaa did not expect a new layout on lj... have they like EVER changed their layout in the history of my life???

ummm anyway okay

so i came by to say for those who didn't see my halloween costumes, here they are!

First I went to a family friend's party and I did my Ursula costume:

Because she is a HBIC fo REAL yo.

So the shirt was something my mom, like, found? Or was given? And it randomly happened to be perfect. The skirt I own, the tights I got at Walmart for about $4 each (and rescued at the end of this, so now I wear them sometimes), cotton batting was just in the attic anyway, the makeup I own, the jewelry I made out of yarn and sculpey and paint that happened to be in my house, and then I tease the crap out of my poor hair, fastened it at the top, and covered it in gel and white spray powder.

This is what it looked like when I took the elastic out of the top:

So yeah, all in all the whole costume cost the price of white hair spray, four pairs of tights, and sculpey.

Then, in case any trick-or-treaters came by, I went with something a little simpler on Halloween night... Voldemort!

AVPM Voldemort, actually.

This costume I made entirely out of stuff I had, which was a challenge since I gave most of my stuff away before leaving Paris.

Basically I tried to reactreate his cape with my black waterfall cardigan and my black scarf (strategically pinned together), then I used a sports bra and two white (lacy, but I put them on backwards) camis to pretend I was a shirtless man, then I just wore three pairs of tights rescued from my Ursula costume. Since I didn't leave the house, I didn't bother with shoes, and since no trick-or-treaters came, I spent the evening popping funsize candybars and watching Finding Bigfoot (my new favorite show, btw).

Oh, I put my hair in a low ponytail, gelled it, and hit it with baby powder since I was out of the white spray from Ursula.

Total cost of costume: an hour spent mindlessly picking baby powder out of my hair.

There you have it! A month late but oh well.

I already know what I'm going to be next year, but I'm keeping it to myself in case the awesomeness in my mind is impossible irl. My future roomie is an awesome seamstress so I can enlist her help if need be... :D
