I know I told some people I was going to make an angry post, but I didn't. Because.
I was playing my game The Movies... okay wait no let me start at the beginning.
We watched Madagascar on Saturday (I. LOVE. THAT. FILM.) and it made me want to play Zoo Tycoon. So I went to my room to get Zoo Tycoon and it was tragically missing from its case. The only other game I had was The Movies, so I put it in my computer and started playing that instead. Then, tonight, during Heroes (um I didn't even pay that much attention, which is a bad sign) I got it out again and was mostly doing stuff during commercials. And Kat was like, "That reminds me of the Sims!"
Now, I had never played the Sims before, so Kat decided I needed to see them. She got hers out, and before either of us knew what we were doing I'd badgered her into making little Sims of my boys from my novel. And we worked for ages on getting their looks right (fun fact: Richmond would look ridiculous with a mohawk and in some hairstyles he starts to look like Joan Jett) and then she made them roommates and built them this adorable little house with a piano. And then some aliens came to visit and they almost got bit by a werewolf and within two days (two hours-ish, our time) she had made it go from Richmond being annoyed at Julian's piano-playing to them "making woohoo" which was the most hilarious and awkward thing I'd ever seen.
And the best part? Was that Julian's personality was somehow dead-on. He would be in the midst of wooing Richmond and suddenly feel the need to start a waterballoon fight with the neighbours. He often got urges to jump on couches and he always sulked when Kat told him to clean up after himself. At one point Richmond was brooding in the kitchen and Julian was in a hot tub with some strangers, and Kat goes, "Wait, what? Julian got in the hot tub? Then you're getting in too, buddy!" and drags Richmond over there. Also she gave them a big giant canopy bed with leopard print sheets.
The moment they fell in love little hearts popped out of their heads and harp music played. And then Richmond immediately decided he wanted to get engaged to Julian. At other points they had pillow fights and tickled each other. You guys. You guys, it was so beautiful.
When the Sims 3 comes out I am BUYING that thing.
I will make the Doctor and I will make my friends and I will make characters from Les Mis you guys. And I will get bored with it really fast. And I will still somehow manage to let it keep me from my homeworks.

THIS GAME IS CLEARLY AMAZING.

Date: 2009-02-03 05:16 pm (UTC)Oh my gosh. I really feel like all my years of Zoo and Rollercoaster Tycoon are nothing compared to the potential of this game.
(Heck, in Rollercoaster Tycoon I used to hire mascots just to drop them into the lakes and watch them die [I have an irrational fear of mascots] and I'd build rollercoasters that ended abruptly because I liked the way everything blew up when the rollercoaster crashed. And in Zoo Tycoon I liked to build lion pens around people who wandered off my paths. It was hilarious because the lions would pick them up and shake them and this bizarre voice would start screaming.)

Date: 2009-02-04 01:41 pm (UTC)(Okay, it's not /that/ random - I remember your username from lurking on various Les Mis boards when I was in my Javert/general-Les-Mis-related-stuff obsession a year or so ago. (Still obsessed, just not AS much.) And then I was randomly searching something and for some odd reason it lead me to this journal, where I was like OMGSIMS2LESMISHEROESDOCTORWHOYAY and decided to spontaneously comment.)
So yeah, OMGSIMS2YAY. I love that game! I made a gigantic family of vampires with loads of different bloodlines, grand ancestors, royalty, family drama, murder, etc. I got up to, um, 160 sims in total? And they were all decended from one particular grand ancestor, and then in the end all five family trees combined back into a single sim, and they were all named after characters in Buffy, Greek myth, Harry Potter, Les Mis (I remember naming some sisters Eponine and Azelma), etc. I ended up killing so many sims that I had to make a gigantic graveyard to hold them in.
And then my computer died, so I started again on a different one. And this family was kinda crazier than the last - no vampires, but lots of witches with names like "New York Hooker" and "Caroline-Isabella" who were incidentally both male, and "Jiving Rumba Bopbo" and "Allergorical Gigamo" and a scary dark vampiress called "Cochon d'Inde". And lots of mpreg.
*takes breath*
Sorry for spamming up your journal with this ramble ...

Date: 2009-02-04 03:30 pm (UTC)Also, that sounds amazing. I got so addicted to the Sims since making this post that I decided I couldn't wait until Sims 3 came out and I started searching for some... way... to get the Sims 2 until I can legitimately buy the Sims 3... and then I had to buy an external DVD burner, but I think it's totally worth it...
Everything everybody says about the Sims makes me want to play it more. Especially mpreg and dynasties of vampires! Geez, I've been missing out for so long...

Date: 2009-02-05 08:32 pm (UTC)I just found out that my friend backed up my vampire-dynasty, so hopefully I can play with them again. XDD My ultimate plan is to unite the two families together in an explosion of craziness. I also need to put werewolves in there somewhere. So much to do ... lol.
I've been obsessed with Les Miserables (mostly Javert-love) for a few years, so yeah ... and I stumbled upon Doctor Who after watching an episode and thinking, "I love that woman who plays Donna," and then realising that it was Catherine Tate. Yeah, I'm bad with faces.
Er ... do you mind if I friend you? *sneaks out*
