Well.

Aug. 3rd, 2010 12:38 am
I was going to make a long, whiny, introspective post about how my mother accused me of living outside of the real world, ie preferring television shows and the internet (what I've come to classify with the blanket phrase "staring at screens") to whatever else there is to do in the world.

I was going to make that post, but instead I'm just going to share this beautiful screencap with everyone.

I don't think I'm the one whose lifestyle is causing me to miss out, thanks.

Uhhhh....

...so.  Sorry for being a crazy person.

I was going to post a clip from Aunt Irma Visits because it's true and because The IT Crowd is coming back on Friday the 25th (you have no idea how happy I am about this) but the clip I wanted had embedding disabled and then I found clips of Judy and got distracted.  There was a time in my life when "WHERE ROYYYY?" was a common part of the dialect my friends and I had accidentally developed, you see.  Since NOTHING has embedding enabled, just have this little gem:

Jen told the boys she would cough if they started embarrassing her at her dinner party with her new boyfriend, Peter.

SQUEEGASM.

*breathes*

*picks up knitting in aching fingers*

Ohhhh my gosh.  Obama is president and there's Ayoade in glorious HD on my television.  See, America isn't all pathetic!  We're trying.

Roy: [answers phone] Hello IT. Have you tried turning it off and on again? ... OK, well, the button on the side. Is it glowing? ... Yeah, you need to turn it on. Err, the button turns it on.  Yeah, you do know how a button works, don't you? No, not on clothes.
Moss: [also on the phone] Hello IT. Yuh-huh. Have you tried forcing an unexpected reboot?
Roy: No, there you go, I just heard it come on. No, that's the music you hear when it comes on. No, that's the music you hear when... I'm sorry, are you from the past?
Moss: You see the driver hooks a function by patching the system call table so it's not safe to unload it unless another thread is about to jump in there and do its stuff. And you don't want to end up in the middle of invalid memory. [laughs] Hello?

I LOVE THIS SHOW A LOT.  OH MY GOSSHHHH.

Okay okay okay gotta finish Little Jack's coat.
Okay, that's a lie, but seriously.  Watch the icon.  I made it really quickly to commemorate seeing (part of) my favourite SNL skit rerunning today on E.  I made it really fast.  But it's the longest icon in the worrrrrrld.

Anyway.

The plan was to pick me up at 1pm.  But this morning my lovely friends woke me up and said, "You know you have to be out of the dorm by 10, right?"  I looked at the clock.  It was 9:53.  I deemed this NOT GOOD.  So I called my dad who agreed to leave right away (college is only a half-hour from home) and I immediately started running around throwing things into suitcases.  I didn't even get dressed.  When I realised I needed shoes on but had already packed the ones I wanted, I tugged on rainboots.  That's right.  I moved out of my dorm this morning in a long shirt, scrubs, and rain boots.  Hawt.

But it all worked out and I got home and had some Quizno's and went back to sleep.  And then work.  And then I watched the series finale of Merlin.

Merlinnnnnn.  I seriously did not see that ending coming.  I was so pleased.  I'm going to miss that show.  Thank goodness they've signed on for series two!

Also, Amy Poehler will be missed on SNL.  *sigh*

AND THE I.T. CROWD ACTUALLY MENTIONED RICHMOND AVENAL THIS WEEK!  I freaked out and had to pause it and squeal for a few minutes.  Then I was so distracted I had to start the whole thing over again.  "Where IS Richmond?"  "...he got SCURVY."  Oh my gosh, that show amazes me every week.

I'm sick.

Right after Heroes last night I started feeling AWFUL.  It was probably all that icky het.  Thank God for Sylar being Sylar again.  But Mohinder's FACE!  WHY???  Gah, I used to be proud to be a Heroes fan, but now I'd rather admit to adoring Merlin than Heroes.

Speaking of which.  MERLIN.  I.T. CROWD.  WHY WERE THEY BOTH SO AMAZING THIS WEEK?  And even more amazing?  Those video diaries from the Merlin DVD!  It was the most amazing thing EVER.  AMAZING I SAY.  Bradley James and Colin Morgan are SO. HILARIOUS.

And the I.T. Crowd is proving that it doesn't even NEED the magic of Richmond Avenal to be awesome. Unexpected!Hitler last week, and the amazing technique to distract the cops this week?  I LOVVVVE THAT SHOW.  Srsly guys, Ayoade for Eleven and Colin Morgan for companion.

"Je m'appelle Angel.  Je suis LOSER."
"Oh, je ne clean pas le room pour no loser!"
"And once again the balance is restored to nature."
"It was just complete euphoria from start to finish.  It was like the greatest moment of my life.  All rolled into one day."
"If our names were actually representation...al... of who we are, I'D be called Angel.  She'd be called ... ... ... HUSSY."
"We don't really understand the French but what he think [the radio] is singing is... 'We're all going to die.'  We're GOINNNG to that great big rollercoaster in the skyyyyy!  To join themmm!  ...in a MINute."
"Bloody he-- I mean, holy-- I mean... whatever.  OH MY GOD.  YEAHHHHHHHH.  AOOGA.  AOOGA."
"I think we keep getting warnings in French for me to turn off my camera.  But don't worry, Merlin fans, it's not gonna happen.  Cos I have the magic phrase.  (singing) Je ne comprends pas!  Je suis anglais, heh-hey!"

I had no idea Anthony Head was so awesome.

Basically, [livejournal.com profile] suchcuriousity and I are going to Parc Asterix.  As soon as I'm well enough to stand up.  We're going to hijack a bus and go.

I randomly wrote something that might be considered fanfiction for my own NaNo last night.  I may or may not let anyone see it.
lesmisloony: (omg enjy)
OMGWTFBBQ.

I'm watching How to Lose Friends and Alienate People because Simon Pegg is in it. But I'm only eight minutes in and I've already seen Jen and Roy from The I.T. Crowd and Agatha Christie from Doctor Who and every time one of these people pops up I completely flip out because OMG OMG OMG. And then there was Bambi from Secret Diary!! ...movie over. Other than some scarring nudity, I proclaim it win.

AND I GOT MY HANDS ON A COPY OF LES PARAPLUIES DE CHERBOURG TODAY. Yay, so much yay.

AWW OBAMA YOU'RE SO ADORABLE.

Okay, this week's Pushing Daisies, the curtain thing was flipping annoying. Maybe it's Aunt Irma's fault, but I enjoyed this week's episode despite Chuck and Ned... ugh the Booshy curtain thing. I want pie. I want to eat an entire pie. I actually kind of enjoy having my once-a-month excuse to be pissy, though. Yayyy I'm pissy. Now YOU SHUT UP. Need moar Aunt Vivian. And WTF is Chuck wearing??

OH MY WORD. I just watched the love song and the ending of Les Parapluies de Cherbourg and it made me feel so much better in some way. I swear to God that movie is one of the greatest things ever. I may have gotten lightheaded at the awesomeness. So. Amazing.

My roommate and some hallmates are squeeing over hot guys, so for the first time this month I listened to music while writing. It usually distracts me, but I put on the soundtrack-y Doctor Who type stuff and some Mozart. Or anything in a language I'm unlikely to be able to understand. With the assistance of headphones, I accomplished this:

32183 / 50000 words. 64% done!

Today my word count meter is the colour of Sophie's dress.

lesmisloony: (amazing Richmond)
I do love Richmond, but the I.T. Crowd is good sometimes even when he's not around...

Roy uses the disabled toilet and accidentally pulls the HALP cord instead of flushing.  Meanwhile, Moss is using the employee toilet...

Sorry, just saw this and felt the need to share.

Argh.

There is a big empty hole in my life that is shaped exactly like a DVD of the Mighty Boosh live.  Stupid fuzzy youtube nonsense.  I want screencaps!

Oh, have some bonus Noel as Richmond from The IT Crowd pictures (I just downloaded both seasons, watched them all, and deleted all the episodes with no Noel.  It's a really cute show, but not cute enough to eat my disk space.)

And finally, the most beautiful screencap ever:
